Default C30, water in footwell

Hi all,

I seem to be suffering from a relatively common problem, of having a lot of water in the driver’s side footwell, beneath the carpet. Wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for the windscreen condensation if stood for a while.

Just read a similar thread for an S40, and searches all point to a sunroof drainage issue. Only problem is, I don’t have a sunroof.

Looked all round the interior, had the carpet up in the footwell and tried to see where it’s coming from. No obvious point of entry but if I had to guess, I would say somewhere from the rear, rather than the front bulkhead.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
Russ

Check the scuttle drains on either lower corner of the windscreen. These can be blocked by leaves and other debris, and water can get in through the cabin air intakes which are located by these drains

it did also occur to me if the condensor drain for the aircon is blocked the run off ends up in the footwell. there are extensive diy threads on checking this too

Whilst looking at the top corner of your windscreen from the outside, stick your hand on the inside corner of windscreen and push outwards to see if there's any play, repeat on the other side too. Apparently Volvo used an environmentally-friendy adhesive which doesn't last the lifetime of the car. Seen lots of videos of this happening.
