Interesting concept

Just been reading something of the 263 concept car.Basically a 260 front end with a sloped rear hatch.From the rear three quarter picture there are-to me-shades of the Saab 99/900 to the Volvo rear end.Power was of course to be supplied by the PRV6 engine.Whether it would have caught on had Volvo decided to produce it is purely a matter of conjecture as the project got canned,still an interesting idea though.

You can get some pictures of a very smart blue car if you Google "Volvo 263". There's also image of a yellow one that seems to be based on a 240.

Both cars do indeed look a lot like the Saab 900 of the same era.

I'd guess that as there were only the two car makers in Sweden their respective engineers and design staff - and hence design and styling ideas - moved between the two companies regularly.
