Quick one - seat webbing width?

I'm going to sort out my knackered seat webbing on the front seats of the Amo before I take her off to Spa in May. I've measured it as 1.25" but I wonder if it's shrunk over the years. Anyone know what width I should be after?

Also, if anyone who's done the job knows how I anchor the webbing - and how much I'll need for two seats - that'd be great!

Hi there

The best way to do it is to get the webbing properly stitched. I went to a local friendly furniture upholsterer who sold me the required length and stitched it with the car present. One of us fixed the attachment while the other stretched it. Simple with two pairs of hands!

Previously I had attached the webbing with small plates of metal and pop rivets, but it was a proper bodge job

It's one of the most rewarding jobs as it transformed the comfort of the seat. I have added about 1" foam between the seat pad and the webbing too which was supplied and cut to shape by the same upholsterer. The webbing was dead cheap but foam isn't!

Don't over complicate this. I think it's 2" webbing. Rubber "Pirelli" type or rubberised cloth. Any local upholstery shop will supply. Rubber is more expensive. Seat base comes off in seconds, just unpop the poppers at the back of the squab. Think a bit when you are cutting the length. Too long will be too soft but you can at least shorten it. It needs to be pretty tight especially if you're heavy. Passenger often lighter so you can make that a bit longer.

OE seat webbing is 2" rubberized by Pirelli,a and I expect that in ALL cars where it is still original, it has now turned to "Sheet Pasta Gone Wrong"[Gordon H.].

It is supposed to be compliant in tension...it determines after all, in combination with the vehicle suspension, ride comfort, so I have to disagree with using standard (non-compliant, or much less compliant) upholstery webbing (of jute, or other natural fibre), and I highly recommend against simply replacing it with a piece of plywood(!), but I do advocate replacing it with full metal version with springs, which has the necessary compliance, but is permanent, as it is no longer susceptible to ozone degradation. My boy and I just added lawn chair webbing to our Amazon seats.
Doubt it is as good a fix as what Ron suggest but we will likely replace seats soon anyway. I'll post pics later.

Cheapo fix. Was concerned it wasn't taunt enough but as it turns out, it has you sitting so much higher that it also brings you forward. wasn't too bad but noticeable.
