A couple of dealers have both said it’s a limited production run of 2000 cars once they are sold that’s it ? How many sold up to know who knows ?

Didn't Volvo just announce more than 20K global XC40 orders so far. Though not sure that there are First Edition versions in every territory (or even any beyond the UK)

I remember "missing out" on a XC90 launch edition once before by a few days but never quite got a proper explanation as to whether it was a time threshold, or quota met. "Volvo Groups decision to change pricing and specs".

Am I reading the pricing right?? The first edition about £50 over £40,000 So will it attract the extra £310 a year tax?

You are reading it wrong. Check the VED threshold rules. Broadly it's retail (list) price plus delivery cost/inspection inc VAT (assuming no further manufacturer options). The £40.055 OTR price includes first reg and first year VED which aren't included in the VED threshold calc's. So for a base First edition you should be fine (although not much headroom).

The XC40 price list confirms this although have to say not particularly well as includes a confusing "note" caveat from memory.

With the formal launch events coming up in late Feb (22nd to be precise for me), isn't it about time we had a new Forum thread for the new XC40 so discussions which might be of interest to potential buyers aren't buried in other threads. It's a completely different platform and surely deserves an area of its own .....
