Default SRS fault codes.

I have a pre facelift d5 V70. Airbag light came on recently and I took it my usual dealer who tried the usual clean the plug under the driver's seat this didn't work. Recommended a new module which Volvo wanted an eye watering amount for.

So the car came home and I tried to have a go at fixing it myself. First job was to get a vida / dice which took a week to turn up.

I have 2 error codes both about the side airbag, along a few other minor codes (none on the ECM). The airbag faults are green on the current cycle but have a historic fault logged. I tried to clear the codes but they don't disappear. I have also tried disconnecting the battery for half an hour but still no joy.

Having searched the forums there seems to be the odd instance of something similar happening before. So I've brought a replacement module with the same numbers from the same model and year of car.

Fingers crossed it is just plug and play if not I need to find somewhere to do a software flash.

I'm assuming that by the codes being green on the current cycle (and has been dozens of cycles since the fault has occurred) that the fault is fixed and it's just the old codes that I can't clear.

Advice on this odd issue is appreciated!

Please post a screenshot of Vida showing the codes.

I had an issue with the srs ecu when I bought my last car, the historic codes wouldn’t clear. Had to take the ecu to a specialist for repair.

You can’t just put another module in and expect it to work as you’ll get an ‘incorrect configuration ‘ error. Although it dies work well for testing to see if the faults are real.

Funny. My experience was almost the opposite.

I had earlier cleared a drivers bag stage 1 high resistance by replacing the contact reel with a used part.

Here is the picture I took this morning. Showing amber in the delivery tab. Current cycle is green and previous cycles are red in the other tab.

I would be inclined to isolate that bag and put an emulator on the plug to mimic it just to eliminate the bag itself before attempting to replace the module. You can get them from dealers or I bought them from RS for about 50p.
Your alarm siren fuse is out as well
Is your DIM acting up in any way?

That is the same issue I had with mine. The errors where shown as inactive, but wouldn't clear. When I swapped the airbag ECU, the error wasn't there but it had an incorrect configuration error so still showed the warning light. Got ECU repaired and it's been good as gold ever since.

Brendan w - I hope I have the same experience as you. Plug and play would be great.

Dim is fine (appart from the error messages about my airbag!)

Which value resistor did you get from rs?

Reggit - glad to hear you got your issue fixed as well. Did you take it to main volvo dealer?

Farnell, now that I've checked

This is the module. Not all plain sailing. The first one they sent had a P in front of the 8651523 and it didn't work.

Absolutely not! I took it to an ecu specialist (the ecu only) that knew what they where doing.
