Default MOT fail? what to check

Hi all..

Briefly, as i dont have much time.

My MOT is booked in 4 hours (16:30)
And i was just checking everything, replacing bulbs etc.
Discovered that my "main beam" indicator on the dash doesnt come up.
Lights themselves work OK, its just theres no blue marker on the dash when they`re up.

that brings 2 questions:

will it by itself be a MOT fail? to the best of my knowledge all the rest of car is fine

secondly..
blown bulb? or more likely HUD failure?
i know my HUD has dry joints- clock resetting itself, trip meters resetting themselves, etc
theres no doubt here

but can same fault stop main beam indicator from working?

Thanks

(in the meantime trying to reach spokoluzik)

If your tester is doing their job correctly, yes it will fail.
Mine failed with the high beam light fault last year and sending my DIM to Lukas fixed it.

Yup.. sounds like it..

Just spoke to MOT guy, and prior to that- to Lucas.

Lil` plan of action: turn up for the MOT today, fail, get 10 days to fix (fault does not render car dangerous to drive).
after the MOT straight home, take out the DIM, bag it up.
Leave work early tomorrow and make it to Lucas before 5 pm..
as soon as fixed and reassembled- re-test.

Do i disconnect battery prior to clocks removal?
i wll need to lock the car for the night somehow..

I didn't disconnect the battery but best advice would be to do so.
Securing the vehicle was easy enough as I used the internal locking button prior to removing the DIM then manually locked the driver's door on exit.

OK.. updated plan:

I will not take it out today.
it would take me almost 2 hours to reach Lucas` workshop by train, but only just over an hour to drive there.
So that`s what ill do.

set up to be there by 5 pm or sooner if i can

Make sure you ask the MOT tester to test the headlight beam alignment anyway (regardless of the fact you have a separate headlight issue) - or you will have to pay in full for the retest.

Dim heated up on the way to mot centre.

Passed without advisories.

I'm at Lucas' tomorrow anyway. It still needs fixing.

hmmm.. did I REALLY put "HUD" up there thinking of "DIM"?!?! Must have been stressed..

By Lucas, of course.
