740 estate seatbelts
Hi, I'm just migrating from the world of Ford Granadas to buy my first big Volvo. (Fords rust too much and the MK 3 Granada estate is too rare)
What's the story with seatbelts? I'm about to buy a 740 GLE estate that is being held back from an MOT certificate because of damaged rear setbelts. The current owner can't find the right ones so I'm searching myself for some. Here are the part and chassis no.s: 1331276 59496 82 90 CR ALS 85 06 12 (don't know which one is the part no. so wrote everything) Here is car chassis number... YV1745842G2008779 I'd be grateful for any help, thanks in advance. Sean |

RE: 740 estate seatbelts
OOps! Forgot to add:
I just need to know what year of cars are more likely to have the correct belt so that I can spot them at a distance in the local scrappys. The car in question is a C reg. thanks Sean |

RE: 740 estate seatbelts
As far as I know, any 700/900 will have the right belt, only question is if they have the same buckle.

RE: 740 estate seatbelts
I know this is a little late looking at the date, but it may help someone else with the same problem.
I have just replaced a rear middle seatbelt in a 760 GLE Estate with one from a 740 Turbo Saloon. It came with a lapbelt and the locking section for the offside passenger belt. I picked it up from a Volvo dealers they had what was left of a 740 sitting outside their workshop. No problems with getting fittings off, one bolt to undo and then the reverse to fit it in the 760. The 760 would have failed the MOT but with the replacement belt in place it passed. It seems that if you have the retainer in place you have to have the lap belt, and the retainer for the offside passenger belt and the lap belt are all one unit. The cost for the replacement was £20 plus vat, I wonder, if I had gone to a scrap yard would it have cost less :-) |
