Default Easiest fuel pump upgrade for in tank 940

What's the best/easiest fuel pump upgrade to do on a later 940 with just the single in tank pump? Ideally looking for something that will swap in without too much hacking around, is the volvo oem one the best (not planning on ever taking the car past about 250hp) or is it worth upgrading?

I think mine might be dying and as I'm about to take the whole assembly out, thinking of replacing it while it's all on the bench.

I've heard of people going for Walbro for better performance. I fitted a Bosch in mine but it's only standard 135bhp.

Sorry I don't. If you put your car details into most of the suppliers websites it will give you options on the pumps that are a direct fit.

The Walbro is 5 bar and rated to something silly like 500bhp
The Bosch is 4 bar and also rated up to something like that power wise

Some of the cheapo pumps are listed as 3 bar but I'd be suspect of a pump that costs £15

A standard pump will be fine for 250bhp, you want to match and not increase the current load. The relay is overloaded as it is.

It hard to get an exact match for the fit as the original isn't available, some fiddling maybe needed. At least remove the rubber case.

You have to remove the whole assembly to change the pump, so yes do it while its out, its quite tricky getting it in and out. I put a used one (whole assembly) in before so not a good reliable long term solution.

I was thinking this one

That's the same one that I linked to. It fits fine but you may have to change the connectors over

Yep, I'll go for one of those Bosch ones then, changing connectors looks fine. Thanks for the advice

I recently fitted a walbro 255 in tank pump. Much easier to do if you remove the tank that's obvious. The little plastic cup that the pump sits in has some little raised guide bits in. I used a sharp chisel to remove these and the walbro pump then fits perfectly in that cup for a factory looking install.
