Default Dumb Question.

Ok guy's this may sound like a dumb question but how is the automatic gearbox fluid toped up? the only place I can see is through the small hole where the dip stick fits, unless there is a filler plug underneath.
Thanks.

yes use the dipstick hole , why are you topping it up ? the only reason can be a leak somewhere ?

These are old cars now, the seals are going hard, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a small weep somewhere. As long as it's not leaving a puddle and you're not having to top it up every week I'm sure it'll be fine... but do have a check underneath.

But yes, the dipstick hole is usually the only place to fill up an auto box, which is why a lot of the 1 litre fluid bottles you get from the garage have a really thin long spout you pull out. Just to make sure, are you checking the fluid with the car fully warmed up and idling in neutral?
