Default Experiences transplanting lock ECU (vgla)

I have read a few posts on here about people buying a second hand lock unit with paired fobs and transplanting into their car rather than pay to have fobs paired to the original unit.

I have an -00 V70 where the lock ecu is paired to the imoobiliser and requires communication/valid key to enable the starter motor relay.

My version has a white box, however i have tested a black box version and while it seems practically identical the immoboliser pin is not programmed.

Just curious of anyones experience in swapping these, what colour the boxes were, what model/year your car or the donor car was, if you had any trouble with it etc.

I know there will be an issue with tailgate/boot openings but also i have read something interesting about the C series being able to store a different amount of alarm cause history as a unit programmed for S/V.

Thanks in advance.

Is your V70 a phase 1 or phase 2 car? If phase 2, I'd suggest posting in the >2000 forum. Cheers!

My car is a phase 1 but I'm not looking to do the swap myself.
Just curious if anyone with a S/V 98-00 or C (?? classic) has done.
