My 1999 V70 2.5D engine is dead - mortified - rest for sale
Sadly, a few days ago my 1999 V70 2.5D engine died whilst traveling at low speed.
I had to be recovered to home. On inspection I discovered the overhead cam-belt had snapped. This cam-belt was replaced at a Volvo INDI about 3 years ago and has only done about 22,000 miles since. I have no idea what has happened and I'm not inclined to start to dismantle and repair it. Iv'e had the car about 8 years and it owes me nothing. I'm mortified mainly because of the auto gearbox repair I did a few years ago and I'm sad to have to let a good AW 50/42LE auto-box go to waste. That auto-box I bought from a forum member as is detailed in the repair thread on here - it was a 106,000 mile box fitted to my V70 at 187,000 miles and the car now has 219,000 miles on it. So effectively it is a 138,000 mile box which I have taken great care of since fitting it - also fitting an additional ATF cooler at the time ( now removed for my S60 ). Yesterday I bought a 2006 S60 D5 185 Geartronic from a forum member so I need to move the V70 on. Because I have a caravan for sale since buying a fresh caravan a few week ago I have no drive space to house the faulty V70 and consequently it is parked on the road. This means I have to have it insured and taxed and I bought a 2 week policy which runs until 14th of the month. By then the car will be gone, either to a member here for its scrap value or I will have it taken away for scrap. I have removed a few things and still have the spring assisters to remove but I will not be breaking the car it will go whole. I estimate the scrap value ( especially with a good auto box ) is about £200 - it will need to be trailered away. I also have the original bell housing and torque convertor from the box from when it was fitted to a petrol C70 so that gives further options as to its uses. Please make any offers soon. The car is red and the body panels are sound and practically rust free but there are a few small shopping trolley type bumps. It has a towbar fitted. I will soon be selling 2 x good load covers and 2 x wheels that had new tyres only about 2 months ago. Also some window wind deflectors. Colin

Just realised that it might sound as though there are no wheels on the front but there is a steel and the emergency spare.
The car is rolling ( I ROLL ). Colin
