Hi How much did you pay for the cylinder leakage test ? What are the results ? My V60 D4 2014 leaks by intake valves and leaks the cylinders up to 60%. I have paid 1000 for this test. To open the cylinder head, 1500 more, they will ask to solve the intake valve leaks. Then replace the cylinder head, then make a new leakage test, then remove the pistons rings.... And we no insurrance that Volvo contribute for XX £/ ... Volvo France told me EGR problems are known and Volvo paid 100% fee till 4 years olds car with a full Volvo service history. But they told me also that the oil consumption is not linked and this problem is not known. But I see that I'm not alone and as Unity makes strength we must join how effort against Volvo. It is why I need your VIN numbers in order to press Volvo Swedeen. Are only concerned people whom VEA engine had burnt, burns oil (more than 1/2 liter each 1000 kms / 625 miles) even if the engine had been replaced by Volvo. I have look for oil consumption and I have at least: Chrisv60 - Oil consumption - Leakage test positive - Engine replaced - Cost £870 Volvov602015 - Oil consumption - first diagnose Jslim - Oil consumption - Leakage test positive - Ask for further tests - ChrisFromFrance - Oil consumption - Leakage test positive - Ask for further test - Decline (costs/no visibility) - No arrangement with Volvo - YV1FW73CDE1198717 Miyo360 - Oil consumption - efraaa - Oil consumption - smudgers - Oil consumption - Turnwood - Oil consumption - Pukka88 - Oil consumption - Thanks to all to confirm And welcome to other people who face this problem.

It is very confusing what the dealer trying to do now.
It feels like the dealer is trying to avoid repair as the dealer I am taking in for repair is not the same dealer I have bought it from. The repairing dealer was saying it is not covered by the Selekt Warranty as it is a diesel engine and it was not getting hot enough and there are carbon built up, which caused the damage and it is not covered by the warranty. No good will or official fixes or anything. They told me I have to pay if I want it repaired. They called me again today and when I asked why it is not covered by warranty , they told they aren't sure now. They are now trying to send the car away to the dealer I have bought it from. This is not the first time happened as when I first took the car in for EGR fix the dealer said it is not covered by warranty and the dealer I have bought from had to call and email numerous times for them to get it fixed. This first EGR took over 2~3 weeks as they did not want to do it. I am just waiting on their final call and keep updated. |

Too much of this nonsense, I'm looking at getting a 2015ish XC60, probably VEA and probably Selekt as a result of all the issues with these engines, but seeing these repeated stories of incompetence is pushing me to look at other brands.
It sounds like this dealer just can't be bothered, I'd complain to Volvo UK if I were you. And kick up a stink on social media, VUK will love that. Selekt appears to be worthless. Last edited by Bendolfc; Mar 29th, 2019 at 15:37. |

Just had the EGR cooler replaced on my 2014 V60 D4 (VEA) at 152000 miles with 100% goodwill from Volvo UK as it had not previously been replaced. It had previously had the EGR valve changed under warranty.

It seems that there are 2 differents case on these VEA engines:
EGR valve should have been replaced once. EGR Cooler: 1st case: Is this intermediate fix responsible of clogging intakes valves, piston rings ...
