Default powershift - dpf model

i read somewhere more than one place that the powershift auto actually revs the engine slightly higher and therefore the dpf replacement at 72k is not required but is required at twice the mileage or thereabouts... any truth in that information ??

Default soot level

also is it the case that the soot level comes on at the 72k as a standard thing for all models that require it to be changed as part of the service or is this error only emitted when its doing its job as such

No error is logged unless the filter is blocked or consistently fails to regen. Ours lasted until 103k miles until without warning the emissions light came on and the car went into limp mode. The DPF was blocked and I changed it then.

Changing it at 75k is just the Volvo recommended replacement interval and would avoid the situation I had where it failed without warning. Had I need away from home at the time it could have been pretty dire but luckily it happened outside the house.

Based on my experience I would recommend following the manufacturer's service plan/interval for the DPF replacement. I may have got 28k extra miles out of the DPF but what I didn't get was peace of mind.

Was yours the Powershift gearbox? These supposedly last until 140k. I am on 110kin my C70 and there are no signs of it being an issue. I do drive 90 mile commute trips mainly though so it gets a good run.
