Just an update in case it helps someone in the future. I have taken back the car to the dealer. I've left the car there for the day. They called me in the afternoon telling me that the car is ready and that I'm lucky because they have fixed it free of charge! It turned out it was a connection problem (i.e. they have not plugged something back correctly to the clutch pedal sensor or haven't checked once everything was fitted).
All in all it is now working correctly. I asked them where was the connection problem they said it was the clutch sensor. Unfortunately I could not talk to the person fixing the car just the guy sitting behind the desk who normally does not have a clue. Also I don't feel I should be grateful for the zero charge as he so proudly pointed out to me when I collected the car. It is fixed now but I'm not so convinced about their expertise or thoroughness. I took the car in with one problem paid maximum price for it and then took it back with two more problems and had to waste one more day to have it fixed. To be fair with them they have washed my car and cleaned it inside again.
It developed another fault since but I guess I have to open a new thread for it. The clutch pedal is kicking back slightly in the rhythm of the engine. Sometimes it's not that bad sometimes it is worse. They said it might be because there is no more air in the system so there is nothing to cushion out the clutch. It feels quite worrying.

All in all if you have a problem with your stating procedure try to disconnect and reconnect the clutch pedal sensor it might help.
Also thanks again for all the advice you helpful bunch of people!
