Smile "E"reg GLT axle wiring?

Hi just put some glt wheels on my 240 SE "J"reg,i will be putting the axle from the glt on to get the ratios right as soon as i have cleaned and painted it and wondered if any body knows about the speedo sensor wiring?without checking it closely the two axles connectors look very different.any advice on the swap would be very much appreciated, and could save me a lot of head scratching.

you may be able to screw out the one on the car and re-fit it onto the GLT axel

I recently put a 2.3 GLT engine into my Torslanda. This wasn't as straight forward as I hoped it would be and I ended up transferring the complete GLT loom as well as the engine! Until recently the car still had it's original axle in place. Like you I didn't want to fit the GLT axle until I had cleaned it up a little. The electrical fitting is the same for connecting into the axle however I suspect that the sensor is different as it never worked! Once the GLT axle was re-fitted the speedo worked perfectly. I looked at several 'quick' fixes such as transferring the sensor and / or the sensor c/w the back plate from the diff but these didn't appear viable as they were quite different between the axles.

I have also spoken to other 240 owners who have fitted replacement axles and it does seem to be the case that you must replace like with like.
