Angry Oil level rising - dipstick not like in manual

So got the recall letter from Volvo re: oil level rising.

My dipstick looks nothing like the picture in the manual.

I have one that is all bent and zigzaggy. At the end it has an area marked by XXXXXXXs Is that the min and max area?

If so my oil level is a LOT over the max. Or is it something daft like the max is where the dipstick zig zags and the XXXXX is a low level warning.

Help pls!

You have the same bendy/twisted dipstick as my XC60 (when I first noticed this, I thought that some twit, had redesinged it, but no, that is what the XC60 came with at the end of 2008).

The oil level should be maintained between the lower "X" and the top "X".

Bugger - mine is up to almost the bend, way above the XXXs.

Looking at your location, does the XC60 do a lot of short runs?
If so, try a longish trip, this may get rid of any moisture and you may then, get a more realistic, oil level, before bending the ears of your local Volvo Dealership.

Hope this helps.

With regard to the recall notice should you seriously consider not driving it ?

It's booked in to be looked at. Can't realistically not use it. I am sure it will be fine.
