Indicators flashing, mirrors find out, fold in, fold out, fold in,... Drag the hose under the boot, only for the boot to spring open as it sets the kick sensor off

Indeed so if you were right next to it then you have a good arguement that you are still in control of the vehicle therefore you should be covered.
However I never do this as I know that I will be distracted and go inside to answer the phone, or get another sponge from the garage or whatever. I would then essentially be leaving my car uninsured. I live on an estate with lots of nice cars close to the motorway and car theft is quite popular. Anyway my method is to simply never wash the car. 2 years and 52k miles and my method is working a treat......

Were the handles touch-sensitive like the Volvo or did it have buttons?

I don't wash the car in winter. A wash and polish in late autumn followed by a good wash in April is enough. Then wash once or twice during the summer. On all the cars I've owned the paintwork is like new even after a few years with none of the swirl marks that come from over washing.

Ok so this is an interesting fact. If you leave the key inside the vehicle while you wash it the sensors on the handles no longer work? This will most probably solve erratic behaviour also at an automatic car wash. I was always scared how would it be the first time to take it to an automated car wash and how will this keyless system work. But if the solution is to have the key INSIDE the vehicle obviously problem solved.
Thanks for the feedback |

In theory, if a key is detected inside the car you cannot lock it from the outside. This is to prevent you locking yourself out. However, last year someone on here managed to do exactly that.

Keyless not working when the key is inside the car is also very important because otherwise it would be impossible to secure yourself in the car.. If the keyless worked then anyone trying to get in would just be able to touch the handle and the car would open!

However, I am under the impression that there is only exception to this rule which also the manual has a warning not to lock your key inside. This is when you lock the car by pressing the lock button at the boot. In that case even if the key is inside the car, all doors lock and then you are locked outside. |
