The minimum of 3.3 mm is for a reason , if you start using non standard shims the cam geometry might be out and perhaps the cam might hit the cam follower or even the shim could jump out who knows . if you get to the stage where the gap is too small with a 3.3 mm shim you need to sort out the valve seats on valve and head which are very robust to start with of course . All the valves and seats i have seen on these engines have been in pristine condition irrespective of mileage .

I Clan, You are 100% rigt. But I'm in need for sims around 3.7 and less. And before I reach 3.3 I will most probably be able to run another 100 kKm. By that time this B230E must have made space for the FK waiting for her to get very tired!!

Good morning. I worked at a small Volvo dealership for some years before it ceased trading, and I have a selection of 33mm diameter shims for 240/740 etc, some of which are below 3.7mm. I don't think they are genuine Volvo parts, but may have been supplied by Wurth and probably made by Febi Bilstein. They are currently listed on eBay, my username is gpsma09. Please note, I am a private individual having a bit of a shed clearout, I'm not a trader. Copy this link and it should take you there: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/gpsma09/m...&_sop=2&_rdc=1
