Default New 240 GLT owner.

I recently bought this 1 owner 240 GLT estate direct from the original owner. It has done 161,000 miles with a massive history file.

The owners used it as their second car for the last few years, it's been looked after really well, but not cosseted and loved and has lived outside.

I will keep you updated with my relationship with the car, it's due some TLC now.

I own several classic/old cars and my dad had a metallic green 1984 B reg 240 GLT estate when I was a kid.

Welcome to this section - best choice of Volvo purchase you could have made (but others on here may disagree...). Same age as GLT I purchased recently to replace my manual one on which the clutch has now gone, and the rest of the car needs body work. That can all wait until the rain stops!
Are your other classics also Volvo's (mine are)? Would prefer American's though, but beggars can't be choosers!

Welcome, a good choice

I have a 1989 240GLT Auto estate for 9 years now and it's a nice mechanically simple car. Was my daily driver and has coved 75.000 miles so far in my ownership. On 237,000 now.
Also have a 1996 Volvo 940 LPT auto estate that I find even more comfy but the 240 has the classic image of a Volvo and an iconic shape.

My 240 needs a heater fan and rust repairs on arches and passenger door sill surround. Planning to give the GLT, some TLC in the spring.

Yes mines going to be getting plenty of TLC this year, the paint work is very original so I'm going to leave it that way.
