Copenhagen, what a great city. Pic of the racing 245 I took when we were there last year.

Default Cylinder head issues!

Been having ongoing running issues with the amazon and having replaced the carbs, they were badly worn, I still couldn't get it to run right. So thought I would take the head off and found this. Has any one seen this before or know what might cause it?

Next question is what do I replace it with? I have another b18 head and a b20 one, not sure if it's an E or F one. My set up is twin SU's, alloy inlet, cast twin exhaust manifold, big bore exhaust system, magnecore leads and lumenition performance ignition. Engine is plus 40 thou.
What are your thoughts?

Default Unleaded petrol

I would guess at valve seat recession due to unleaded petrol until the valve no longer closed properly and got burned. Possibly exacerbated by the worn carbs giving a lean condition. Just get hardened seats fitted and new valves, should be good to go again.

Wrong play for valves or driven with gas (lpg) ?
Not uncommon.

like Andrew wrote: hardened seats and you get a happy car

Thats one of the most impressively cracked valves I've seen! They normally start breaking up, dropping off and eating the cylinder walls long before that. It can happen very fast though, a little leak and a little overheating, then more until the valve is scolded and then melts/cracks/breaks apart.
