Default Hi KevHaro,

Looks like you got a good buy. Would have been sacrilege to break a car like that for spares. Hope you do manage to give it a good home.
Cheers

Kev the seller of this car had said the car was using water.
No matter if you are a specialist or not if the car has been using water it has to go somewhere! It might not come up on checking the car.
I know it has stopped at the moment but when I was looking at this car if I had bought it I was going to put a head gasket on no matter what.
It's a really easy job anyway and you probably wouldn't even need to skim the head.

If you have looked back on PCJs posts like I had there is definitley a intermttent leak.
I'm only saying this as I have been left stranded with cars with blown head gaskets and no way of getting home or fixed.
Preventative measures are a lot easier and cheaper than when it goes bang miles from home.

Yes I understand were your coming from, but at the moment rear disc & pads are more important and of course the gas out of my Rover Sterling. I will keep an eye on coolant, I dont travel far in her (5 mile round trip) and the first signs I will do it. I have the luxury of working in a College which has all the mech tools and the mechs to help me.
I have been 4 years without a beloved Volvo, the Rover was a buy just to keep me on the road while my Mitsubishi Delica (Jap import) went in for repairs2 years ago. Now the Rover is going to be donated to the College, so students can work on it.

P.S I did look at all of PCJ previous post, I think he may have used a additive used by rover users. As they are prone to blowing HG.

Thanks Dibble, it is and I will.
