Crashing down like a certain 4 x 4 manufacturer I used to work for. It nearly went down when Ford owned it. I don't think it can survive which is a real shame.

Certainly shares some qualities typical of cults:
- charismatic leader...
-...who doesn’t always take questions or questioning well (wholesale dismissal of financing questions at a recent open meeting, for example)
- grand visions, tending towards grandiosity (firing a Tesla roadster into space would qualify in my book)
- uncritical followers, rather than loyal customers.

It’ll be interesting to see whether Tesla becomes a profitable cult (see Apple) or one that fails.

I bought the MY 2017 XC90 last year. It's the D5 AWD Momentum. I love the car, although fuel economy is nowhere near as advertised. I plan to keep the car for either four or five years.

Having said that, I would LOVE to buy the XC90 in an EV configuration. But it has to give me a minimum of 300 miles range, and cost less than the Jaguar iPace. Am I being reasonable here?

Judging from the engines VW offers in the 2019 Touareg, the diesel era isn't coming to an end soon.
One petrol engine, two diesels. Downscaling is something else they don't seem to like in Wolfsburg.
