Default Sell my S60, for a Honda CR-Z?

Hi all. I've got a 2012 S60 R Design T4, less than 50,000 miles on the clock.

Owned it for 18 months and really like it but it's had a number of faults, and it's out of warranty. I intended to keep the S60 well after the finance ends in 18 months but have become worried about it's durability and the potential of costly repairs.

After the latest fault (cabin blower fan - which seems to have fixed itself but potentially expensive to replace) I've been looking for alternatives, not seriously until I saw a Honda CR-Z, different kind of car but could be good fun mixed with Honda's reputation for reliability. The cost to change would be around £2500 and it would have a year's warranty. It's a year younger, top spec but a slightly higher mileage than mine.

I'm not made of money (would have to take out extra finance) and wouldn't take a decision to change lightly - my question is would you spend money on getting another car with a year's warranty and hopefully a good reliability record, or stick with a car that's been problematic from the start and risk more expensive repair costs?

Sorry for the long post but would welcome objective opinions

problematic from the start? where these all changed in warranty?

Sounds like you have your mind set on changing and you have had enough of the car. But I would stick with the current car.

Thanks Dom. Definitely not set on changing just trying to work out what's best.

It's had faults with a steering column creak, keyless entry (both issues fixed after four months of repeat visits to the supplying dealer 60 miles away, but now back), windscreen bonding failure, wheel bearing failure, cabin ventilation fan (which seems ok at the minute but worried only temporary), windscreen trim pulled off in a car wash.

It's one of those cars that always seems to have some drama, it's also had a couple of resprays due to vandalism and running over metal wire. I do like it, but the trust is running thin

I love crz. Totally different kinda car though? Am currently pondering whether to keep my old banger or enter the finance arena again with a few year old smart, panda, IQ, aygo or crz...

Out of those I’d definitely pick the Honda. A bit different and they seem to be a used bargain.

I meant to say with mine there’s also something weird going on with the metallic paintwork on one of the doors, under harsh light a large area looks like it’s been heavily scratched. Very odd

I'd decided to stick with the S60 until the cabin fan started playing up once again. After speaking to a Volvo workshop it will cost around £1000 to repair. Viewed a CR-Z yesterday, lovely car and fantastic to drive, very dated infotainment unit though and received a derogatory part-ex value for the S60 - way below their online quote and dealer not interested in negotiation despite an empty showroom. Genuinely stuck

Have you tried We Buy Any Car for selling your own? I know 2 people who have used it and they were really happy. Very simple process and that would leave you as a cash buyer.

I agree, having owned a three year old Honda that had 128k on the clock that drove like it was new, you’re not going far wrong. I found the dealer back up service on par with Volvo. I’d have another Honda tomorrow if I was to walk away from Volvo.

TT

Their quote was £100 more than the part ex I was offered. Heard good things too. The dealer was trying it on though, I know I can get more. There were lots of stupid games and I wouldn’t be surprised if they call back by month end. Just wish the S60 had been more dependable or wouldn’t even be considering a change
