Yes they’re generally well engineered, at least the Japanese built ones. Though have to say my last Civic (2007 model) was as temperamental as this Volvo. I had a 97 3 door Civic which was superb, the CR-Z reminded me of that in some ways. Felt very well screwed together

They don't build them like they used to! Newer Honda's are also not what they used to be so be wary of this.

What I did, despite having 2 new vehicles on lease for 3 years (Mercedes E350cdi and Astra GTC cdti which were trouble free but felt synthetic, plastic boxes and not as solid as my old Volvo's) is buy another older 3rd Volvo and enjoy having ££££££ in the bank.

If an older, mechanically simpler car is not your thing, what about considering an extended warranty on your vehicle either by Volvo or one of the 3rd party vehicle warranty companies?

Are the potential costly repairs going to come to more than £2500? If not then you could spend that difference on the repairs. Also in 18 months with higher mileage after the warranty is up on the Honda who is to say that you aren't going to get a big bill for it?

I can honestly say in my experience of Honda's and all the hype around their reliability, I am yet to see or experience it. Besides they have overpowered power steering so they feel lifeless like every Japanese car I have driven.

I have owned many Honda and I have found their reputation for reliability to be 100% warranted. Never had a mechanical issue over thousands of miles.

My Civic was 2007, it was a very well made motor. I’d have another one tomorrow.

Enquired about another crz through Honda dealer network, much nicer car although I have learnt post 2012 cars have uprated engines and better batteries. This one was June 2012 and a sport rather than gt, bit low miles...options abound🤔

Just to update the thread, I decided to keep mine as being the most economical option and due to a lack of local CR-Zs. The one I viewed at Peterborough Honda was quite nice but the sales manager was a turn off to any deal.

My S60 has gone to an indy today to have the blower fan replaced - Volvo quoted £1300 but using genuine parts the indy is charging £765. Looking forward to driving in comfort after almost two months of sweltering heat!

It's the post 2014 models that have the upgraded battery and more power, though you have to check carefully. The newer models have a S+ button on the right hand side of the steering wheel which gives a few seconds of extra power

We viewed two on Sunday but such was their filthy presentation by dealer, walked away, in fact from whole newer car thoughts. Currently no car.
