In the UK they are supplied with a home charging cable to your domestic supply - 4m I think. You can order up a cable for mobile charging.

The cable from Volvo is very expensive, over £300. You can get them from various online specialists for half that. Its a Type 2 plug on both ends, but the websites usually guide you through it by vehicle brand / model. I do still wonder if its worth it, given how little charging I will probably do at charging stations.

For home charging most people tend to go for a tethered wall connector by the sounds of it, so you don't have to get the cable out of the boot all the time. Volvo recommend podpoint, I think they operate in Europe too. I'm going for chargedev (Which is a chargemaster unit), but they are UK only I think.

Does the Charge Dev have schdule charging? or is that built in to the car / App?
I want to charge over night on off peak electric

I read in some cases schdule charging for some not available, or not on the app?

Default charging

In UK I believe government gives a grant of around 75% of cost of installing home fast-charging point. But not sure what happens with public charging points e.g. at service stations. Dpo they have their own cable connections, like a petrol pump?

I think the chargedev one has the option of paying more money for a wifi connected one, which comes with an app. No idea if the app has charge scheduling in it though. They are very friendly on the phone (family run business) so i'm sure they could tell you over the phone.

Otherwise, as you say, the VOC app is supposed to have scheduling but i've seen threads saying they couldn't get it to work.

Yes, 75% but with a cap of £500. Some public charging points have cables attached, but many seems to just be sockets these days. We were mainly interested in plugging in at supermarkets, shopping centres etc. All those we've seen so far, have no cable attached.

If you have an off peak meter/circuit you could just get a standard timer for a few quid and plug in to that.

Thanks, that had crossed my mind, though I do have 40 Amp feed to garage I think, need to check a few years since I ran Armoured cable to it.

Good thing is I do not have to do anything until I have car as 13A is fine, even have a Round Blue socket, cannot remember what rating that is

Round blue is C16 (16 amp) - check the fuse though.
