Default Q's for all

Sorry to post about this again, i've had a good search through the previous posts. a couple of Q's

I am looking to buy a V70 t5 probably 2000-2002 model which i now know suffers from the etm problems. I have owned a 850 t5 which was superb and i wish i never sold it.

1) Even if the unit has been replaced by another then am i correct that this will still be a marelli unit and could also fail?
2) You cannot exchange the marelli unit with the bosch unit which doesn't seem to fail?
3) There is a stock shortage of the marelli units due to them no longer being in business?
4) Replacement is now around 300 quid mark.
5) How long are the replacement units lasting? I'm guessing not as long as the original one fitted?
6) Does this put you off ever buying your volvo?

Thanks in advance, this has really put a downer on my plan to buy another Volvo and if i'm honest I may go for something different purely because of this issue. Or i may not and just budget into the plans and accept the issue.

1 - The replacement unit with the yellow label is not prone to failure being modified ...
2 - No they are completely different ...
3 - yes there is a waiting list two weeks max at present i would say .
4 - the new unit is about £150 now + fitting VAT etc, price has come down from the
£500 region it was .
5 - Lasting probably double the time the originals were . not seen a replacement fail
yet ..
6 - No of course not .

I notice you mention the replacement unit (with the yellow label) is not prone to failure. Do you know what form the modifications take?
