Today I noticed that all the balance weights have fallen off the rim

I will be in touch with the dealer next week for them to deal with the problem.
Problem solved. As the fullsize spare is not usually supplied with the car it came from accessories stock. Straight from stock and it looked clean so the operator stuck the weights straight on. What he hadn't noticed was that the wheel had a protective grease coat and this prevented the weights adhering properly.

They seem ok now. Incidentally, there is now not only a bunch of stick-on weights just inside the spokes, there is also a clip-on weight on the inside lip. It hadn't occurred to me you might get both at once.

And, as you say, if you forget to specify a NCO spacesaver wheel when you order you will end up with an aerosol with a limited life span which may cure some punctures but by no means all

Quite frankly, it's just a load of absolute cobblers

Here in the back of beyond, punctures come as a way of life, and there's absolutely no way you are going to rely on an aerosol

My belief is that folk buying a new car should demand a full size spare and a space in the boot for it to reside
I panicked a bit when I read this as I had not specified a spacesaver at the time of ordering. I emailed the dealer, Taggarts of Motherwell, and the rep replied that, as he does not like foam fixers, he always orders a spacesaver with new cars. I call that good service, whatever you think of spacesavers

What he meant was that his customers need a spare wheel because on many occasions the foam is just no good

As the space saver comes as a no cost option he can always swap it for a foam can if a customer objects and stick the space saver in to the dealer's spare parts stock

I bet he can count the number of times he's had to do that on the digits of one finger!

I don't like spacesavers, but we all need a spare wheel, spacesaver or not

We are basically talking about manufacturers trying to cut costs to the disadvantage of customers who get stuck on dark, wet and windy nights

I think this manufacturer obsession with space-savers and foam repair kits has a lot to do with emissions and CO2. A full size spare adds cost and adds weight. The weight affects the CO2 and therefore, the emissions tax banding - and therefore, the saleability of the car.

I forgot to order the space saver so I only have a can of foam in the boot. Not good.

I'm wondering on what kind of roads you are driving. I have driven a car for 25 years and never had a flat tyre.I live in Finland where roads come with really different conditions. I did have a puncture on an airplane once, though.

I completely understand that car manufacturers go for miniature spares and I do understand that some of us want to have full size spares. Why can't manufactures make the space for spare multifunctional; if you want full size, no extra space, if you opt for spacesaver you get more storage space.

You been here lately? We have money for nothing, least of all repairing roads

You'll understand our leaders are obsessed with fighting wars!
