Egr
I purchased a 64 plate D4 with 100k miles and full service history at the start of the year. Last week I got the check engine light coming on, with a p04d9 fault code coming up.
So I removed the EGR valve, and cleaned the carbon and gunk off the EGR Valve, and the EGR Cooler Screen was almost completely blocked, so with the cooler in place I managed to clear the screen on the EGR Cooler. Reassembled everything and took the car for a run, and used the Torque Pro App to clear the fault code. So far so good. |

Need the car 2 days after the light came on, and the main dealer couldn't fit me in beforehand to look at it. That and the fact they were saying that because it did not have a full Volvo Service History (Serviced up to 90k miles with Volvo, 99k service was done by the independent garage that sold me the car) that pretty much "not their problem"

Looks like mine's gone yet again. I had all the fixes and then the final fix last year.
My code reader says fault p04d9 so I'm guessing it's the same thing. It seems to be every October after being serviced by Volvo. Sure enough, the light has pinged on shortly after the expensive 4 year service. Unfortunately I have now retired and bought my company vehicle having driven it from new, hoping the issue had finally been fixed. I have been careful and only used it for long journeys, I've been using my wife's car for running around. I'll see what they say. Let's hope it's not too expensive.

The revised cooler is full again so they have carried out a cylinder leakage test on the engine which has shown excessive leakage from an internal fault. It seems that the cure is a new engine. I'm waiting to hear whether or what Volvo will contribute bearing in mind it's only 4 years old, 30k with a full Volvo history.
