Would this work on my V70 2.4 140hp 2000 phase 1?
I have been considering this for a while now but didn't know wether it would work.

Yes, your engine is using Denso EMS so it will work fine with a cheap OBD reader and Torque.

The earlier cars had an OBD-II socket fitted but not all readers are capable of communicating with the Volvo protocols employed, some of the pre 99 cars can be read with an LED connected across certain pins of the socket, the car will flash the LED to let you read what codes are stored - Just because the socket conforms to the OBD-II standard doesn't mean the electronics fitted to the car can be interpreted by OBD-II diagnostic kit - Mike

Some, not all, really depends upon what system the car is fitted with - Mike

For Crapple products there is the BlueDriver which costs $99 these days, it used to be $29 when it first came out which was a cracking bargain - See Here For details and it comes with its own software - Mike
