2000 v70 AWD 2.5 - Which Upgrades for 350whp
Hi there im sure you will no a hell alot more than me as reading on this forum using the search bar has confused me...
Iv got a Volvo v70 AWD - Manual - 2.5 Im after achieving as close as i can to 400hp.. But not to the extent of risking my standard block... I was reading 400hp was ok on these engine with the correct supporting mods.. The only parts iv got so far is a front mount inter-cooler 2.5" Hard pipes and a 3" Turbo back exhaust... Iv not gone for a map yet as i want to get everything organised/sorted first before i get this done.... A list of upgrades and parts i would need, Which Turbo s and max boost pressure that can be run i believe this is a 19T when reading on here.. Dont quote me im not sure, Also possible things to check and look into would be much appreciated.. Many thanks Ashley Last edited by Harland292; Nov 25th, 2012 at 01:58. |

You are going to struggle, and need quite a wad of money in your back pocket. The engine will need some major upgrades to get up to 400bhp especially as it's not designed to take the 19T. A remap can put her up as far as a baseline T5 quite safely, anything more would be pushing it.

A 19T won't get you 400bhp.
You would be better off either getting a 2.3 me7 engine or the later 2.4 T5 engine. Both will need various modifications to reliably handle the kind of bhp that you are after.

Oh right so the reading up iv done is basically useless then...
So what power is achievable on the engine iv got.. I no the 19T wouldnt make that power.. Just unsure as to were to go with it Any useful links will be good if you have any to hand Also what are your mods "Blackbeast" Thanks Ash Last edited by Harland292; Nov 25th, 2012 at 19:52. |

One of the cheapest ways to go is simply a better flowing exhaust(particularly the downpipe) and a remap this will yield good results without risking bent conrods etc.
When I say good I mean figures around 25-40bhp extra this would be very noticable and usually with no fuel penalty (if driven normally) Bear in mind the figures you are quoting of 400bhp would probably shred the sleeve on the angle gear in the transfer box to bits on this age of Volvo so a much more modest figure would make sense. |

IIRC The 2.5 in the AWD is a low pressure turbo engine and has a higher compression ratio. No idea as to what is achievable, nobody tunes the 2.5 LPT engine due to the thinner cylinder walls. As I said above, start off with the me7 2.3 T5 or later 05+ 2.4 T5 engine.
http://forums.t5d5.org/topic/18116-m...e__hl__%20pump - That car is an AWD, have a read to see what he's done to the AWD system. ME7 2.3 block with forged rods and expansion gaps filled M4.4 head with headwork and NA cams Garrett GT3071r with S60R manifold, 3" DP and exhaust Intercooler designed to my spec and water injection Plus many many other mods to handle that power, but those are the basics for my car. A few of those wont be suitable for your car as you have a me7.

Bearing in mind the purpose built S60/V70 R 2.5 engines are known for cracking liners at 300bhp I think you'll have to spend a vast amount of money to make your engine deliver anything close to 300 let alone 400+.
I suspect you will also have to upgrade the drivetrain, suspension and brakes to cope with the extra power which will not be cheap. A project for someone with deep pockets, lots of spare time and the need for a big challenge methinks.

Will look into it some more now.
Is a FMIC a worthy upgrade? Also il be getting 3" from turbo back anyway.. Money aint to much of an issue.. Iv spent 2k on building the car already Just want it right and not a massive fan of switching the engine now :/ What is a sensible figure i can aim for? 250??? With FMIC 3" downpipe back Remap Also iv seen the custom inlet manifolds which im tempted by.. Also what psi is standard and can be run? As for manifolds. Are there any upgrades? Thanks for your replies Ashley Last edited by Harland292; Nov 25th, 2012 at 22:20. |

talk to AET Motorsport mate, my car is going there in the new year for its final upgrades on this engine.
Anything is possible with the right mods and mapping, my mate was told the same as the above posts yet he has close on 430bhp from a 2.5 motor or 354whp as proven today on a hub dyno |
