Now that is interesting...!

Any chance you have the cr number?

{And i always run 99 in a turbo car, overkill most of the time I know but a useful safety net if something goes wrong.}

A 2.5 would have been ideal as a starting point but I dont have one.

I will be using 115Ron fuel most of the time but for start up and when I have non of teh special cheap fuel will use super unleaded. If E85 was easy to get I would have setup for that

Ditto that! Wish it was more common here...

Fellow 960 Manual owner here. 2.5 SE (which is the base model I think - no sunroof or Cruise Control!)
Also looking to +T sometime later in the year (when funds allow!).
Silky smooth and great driveability around town - and according to that site that was linked, 1 of 2 still on the road

Mine returned 30mpg on a 1200 mile round trip to France which included coming back with a boot load of wine

Cheers

That's an impressive MPG! I have no idea what mine would be - lambda light on which i suspect is a cooked MAF, and the one I ordered had the wrong plug so waiting again for one.

And yours is even rarer than mine!

Envy your lack of sunroof - 99% of the time more hastle than their worth - but do like my cruise control.

And +T is tempting... that or NA tuning + ITBs

Prettt much 60ish on the autoroutes and 55 elsewhere with slowing down to 30 for towns. The 24v engine can handle 30 in 5th quite happily

I miss boost. Had oodles in my 940 LPT - and want some of it back. Massive potential with the 6 pot!

Cheers

Agreed - I also have a 940 turbo (much to the Mrs' annoyance) - and boost is addictive.

But to +T or t6 swap....

Decisions decisions

Yes, M90 gearbox was introduced at same time as the mk2 facelift and was only an option on the 2.5 at that point. Until then, the 960 had not been available with a manual box.

Not special or run-out but again an option just like the 2.5 and even rarer

Yes, the 2.5 (170 bhp) was dropped in 97 and replaced by the detuned 3.0 (180 bhp) and the M90 option continued. The standard tune 3.0 (204 bhp) was never mated to the manual box.

Brilliant! Very useful to know.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get this from? I struggled to find a decent source.

+T always! I think you can put a 3.0 cam in the 2.5 block for a few extra horses
My missus made me sell my 940 Turbo last year citing we didn’t need 2 cars - then complained when we had to get ikea stuff delivered as it wouldn’t fit in her Fiat 500 🤣

I think the +T would be best of both worlds with boost and silky smoothness - and surprisingly quick if done right!

Cheers
