Default horsepower question

Just a random thought really (mostly because I've been thinking about plans for my mini engine and it came up)

mine is the 140hp engine which is fine for a runabout and I've zero plans to mess with it but just out of curiosity.. is that at the wheels, or at the flywheel (and if so how much at the wheels do we reckon)

I'm just trying to get an idea of power to weight as a comparison for the mini (which is looking like it might be around 70bhp engine / 45 ish at the wheels)

ta

140 bhp is measured at the crank, expect a loss of between 15% and 20% at the wheels.

thanks, so optimistically, a real word 120hp, or splitting the difference maybe 118hp

or.. about 80hp/tonne

compared to the mini having something like 70 per tonne. (but, obviously having a huge advantage with the lesser weight in terms of infinitely superior handling)

just thought it would be interesting to get an idea of comparison using my daily as a sort of benchmark
