Specialist Volvo Insurance
Does anyone know a company that specialises in Volvo insurance. We have been quoted £643 for an 855 T5 P reg with Churchill for our second years insurance with them, last year it was about £100 more.
This is for my partner as the main owner and me as the named driver. She has 3 years no claims but because I have always been the named driver on her policy I have zero no claims bonus. The price above is for fully comprehensive but excludes the first £300 of damage, it does not include "protected no claims", breakdown cover or anything like that, just basic fully comp. Does this seem a lot? By the way Churchill were the only people I could get to insure the car when we bought it a year ago, suppose because its a T5! Thanks, Will |

RE: Specialist Volvo Insurance
T5 or T5R? I can't see insuring a T5 being a problem on it's own. Perhaps location or penalties might of had an effect (i'm not trying to imply anything! :) ) I've certainly had prices for a T5 from several insurers.
£643 Sounds OK to me (but I live in the city with street parking and only 2 year NCB). I would check what a smaller excess would cost, often it is not much. Try elephant.co.uk , they gave me a < £600 quote for a T5, be sure to read the T&C's though (with any insurance actually). Good luck! Graeme |

Will,
As Graeme said, it does all depend on location and NCB/Age, but I find Norwich Union to be very reasonable. Chris Knott are also very good. |

RE: Specialist Volvo Insurance
I must have rang 15 insurance companies, sports and performance to classic for my t5r. Hastings quoted me 645 fully comp, about 150-200 pound cheaper than the rest. Id give them a go.

RE: Specialist Volvo Insurance
Do a search on the subject of insurance, it's been raised on several occasions and always produces the same results - one person saying company a is the cheapest with another person saying that company a are too expensive but company b are the cheapest.
The bottom line is that there are a huge number of factors that will affect the premium you pay and indeed whether or not a company will accept the risk at all. The only way to be sure you have the cheapest quote is to call them all regardless of how expensive they've been for other people. Having said that though, don't just go on price alone. Different policies have different benefits. Also, if you are paying by instalments then check the total payable. The cheapest company could well work out more expensive than others by the time you add interest and admin charges. I think it would be much more constructive if people were to post their good and bad experiences regarding customer service, claims etc rather than just the price they pay. An insurer is only as good as their claims service and I would much rather pay a couple of hundred quid more to avoid a company that provides a poor claims service. As a starting point try www.confused.com . They send your details to over 20 motor insurers and come back with a list of the quotes offered. HOWEVER, do be sure to check the details that the insurer has logged before accepting a quote. Regards Andy |

RE: Specialist Volvo Insurance
I have always been impressed with Volvo Owners Insurance, but no-one seems to mention them.
There is no excess on things like the windscreen, you get free European cover and I go for the all singing all dancing breakdown cover for only another £85. When I ring they are helpful and I can always speak to a human without too much of a wait. Oh, and the price for me has been very competitive. It came down by another £100 this year (to £633), so I didn't even phone around. I am under 30, but do have full NCB. Regards

RE: Specialist Volvo Insurance
Hello All,
I know quotes these days are calculated all the way down to postcode etc etc, but we always shop round everyone just about each year and found AXA to be by far the best policy for £400 fully comp. 97 T5 Auto CD Est. Wife as owner with full protected NCD and me as a named driver. Can't really expect better than that ... costs me £200 TPFT on a run around G plate 1.4 Nissan sunny ! Cheers, Craig |
