No,

Look at the brake servo, you will find a black cylinder about 4 inches long and about an inch in diameter sticking out towards the front of the car. This is the pedal position sensor that needs fixing.

Am I right in saying this is what you are talking about...

If so then I would guess at the ignition barrel or ABS unit. If not then change the brake light switch.

My housemates polo showed engine fault and went to limp home mode because the brake lighs were stuck on!!

Thanks Steve,
My brake lights do work properly. Where is the brake light switch?

Right I have just had a look at it and unplugged the connector and started up the engine. No ABS light appeared on the dash? I pressume I would have to drive the car in order for the car to do the ABS check at 20MPH? I don't want to do this with that unplugged as I don't even know what it does.
I have unplugged and replugged it back in 20 times just incase there was a loose/dirty connection.

If there is a fix to this part I sure would like to know?

Thanks

I removed my Stop Light Switch today and had a look at it but couldn't seem to 'fix' it or even open the casing (if that is the source or the problem). So I have now re-installed it and adjusted it correctly (I hope). I'll see if my ABS light comes on again tonight. All of this might have just been from the Stop Light Switch no being properly adjusted? I doubt it, but who knows...?

I'll let you all know tonight after my drive home from work (that's when the ABS light usually turns on).

Thanks

Photo included of my Stop Light Switch. (Click to enlarge)
