UPDATE!!!!!

got a new gasket, took the manifolds of (in preciesly 0ne (1) hour!!!)

gasket showed signs of leaking (black stuf on both sides of the in and out going channel.... ) 1 broken bolt (as mention before) and 1 (most left one (on the clutch side)) lose bolt....

also found the exhaust pipe to clutch housing thingy to be lose on the clutch housing side.....

volvo dealer guy gave me some new screws (M8). also found the pipe going from the rocker cover to the far side of the carb (rocker cover split of pipe) to be lose..... have to keep good track of that one....

thats about it, tomorrow the refitting will be done... (i hope...)
any pointer on that one??

thanks

theo

No particular pointers. You sound like you're doing great anyway. Loctite the studs when you screw them in, and wipe off the excess, so it doesn't go all over the gaskets and the head. Otherwise I think you've got it.

Be careful not to tear the gasket when putting it on and make sure all breather hoses are all in the correct places and thats about it.

UPDATE!!!!

i replaced the manifold gasket....
replaces the stud (and fixed the other one) re-attached the exhaust-pipe-in-place-holder-on-the-clutchhousing-thingy...

BROKE the little plastic tube comming from the "rocker cover" now i had to diconnect 1 pipe (i made the connection between the filter house and the rocker cover. the other pipe comming from the carb is not connected, but i did close the end (big screw)

the irregular running seems lesser, but the explosions in the exhaust seem to have gotten worse....

I'm gonna do some high way testing to night.

could any body tell me if the disconnected pipe needs to be connected? and where could i get a new one???(the little T-junction)

thanks!!

theo (got his neck burned)

You definitely need a new T-piece and reconnect all the hoses up properly, as all the carbs are set up with that slight air draw in mind. Just buy one from a Volvo dealer it'll cost only a couple of quids. That, plus a tune up of idle/CO content should cure all the problems etc.

UPDATE...

car runs superb!!!! fuel consumption is down...
but still there is the occaisonal (sometimes) stalling.... (only SOME times) normaly it runs so smooth i do not believe it is running... :) :)

and there is ALWAYS "farting" in the exhaust when lifting my foot from the trottle and slowing down.... (as reported before the little T-junktion is NOT yet replaced).

any thoughts on that?? (the farting bit)

thanks...

Replace the T piece, just do it. I've already said it only costs a couple of quids!

Sorry to be brutal but its late at night.

runs a little better.

also ajusted the rocker-valve clearence (0.15 mm inlet and 0.20 mm exhaust)

runs good, but still farts....

any ideas?

sorry to be such a pain....

Only thing I can think of is CO content/fuel mixture adjustment. I don't know if you've got someone who can quickly check/adjust it as it needs an exhaust gas analyser.
