Surprisingly it is a built-in "kick-down" function which changes the pulley ratio quite rapidly which gives rise to the jolt.

All the best, Peter

Hi Len,

I have my own ideas regarding the IC installation...which is basically a neater version of Kevin Strong's idea (cut out valance panel!). I'd be very interested to see what you make of it though!

cheers

James

Dear Peter,

Thanks for that. Can live with the jolt as long as I know it's a normal thing.

Best Regards,

Len

Dear James,

If one doesn't exist already, I think we need to start a separate topic about Turbo 360's. Cheap tyres and Variomatics doesn't quite describe the issue! There is no way the front valance is being cut out nor is there any need to do so. The solution I have is the neatest thing you've ever seen and you'd think it was done by Volvo themselves. Piccys to follow very shortly.

Best Regards

Len

Tantalising! Have you reduced the size of the IC? Or turned it on its side? Or used a 400 series one? I'm quite intrigued!

cheers

James

Dear James,

I replied in full last night, attached some pictures, and the whole thing seems to have dissapeared into hyperspace. I'm attaching one picture to this E-mail to see if it works. I'll explain later.

Best Regaeds,
Len

Dear James,

You have one picture which shows the principle. The 760 intercooler is dismantled and the lower 6 cores removed. I don't think this is a bad thing as the cross-sectional area of the remaining intercooler tubes is still 20 percent greater than than the cross-sectional area of the inlet pipe. I have 15 other pictures that show the construction process and the additional modifications required but the forum site tells me I've reached my maximum transmission allowed with just the one attached photograph. Hence the problem and why all my text dissapeared as well. If you can let me have a direct E-mail address I send the whole lot to you directly. Sending 15 independant transmisions on one subject would be a real pain. I've attache one more piccy to this mail. Again I'll explain later.

Best Regards,

Len

Hi,

My first post but I wanted to provide something of value and saw this topic.

Before you buy tyres, I would check out http://www.tyrereview.co.uk I've always found it really useful and there's tips on how to avoid getting ripped off.

Mark.

No reviews there.
They also seem to recommend Pirelli for the most part. Or maybe Bridgestone.
Given the mixed views for pirelli I can't see the point in that site.
Given the vast number of other makes available, there are better sites. Mytyres for example.

Welcome to the forums though, and hope you enjoy the stay.
