Well, happens on the M53 every day

Surely part of the point of the 'rules' is that it is what it says it is. Getting 1600 cars together and then have some drive past, and a bit later some more and a bit later a few more doesn't make a Cavalcade. The two car length separation doesn't seem too unreasonable though for safety's sake I'd probably make it a bit more, but if the speed of the lead vehicles changes the ripple down the line leads to phantom stoppages one gets on busy motorways.

Looking at Google maps aerial view of Bruntingthorpe it seems to have got a lot more cars stored there now than when I used to go there in the 90's, I can't see how you would marshal 1600 cars there and get them into a rolling cavalcade given how much space, including part of the runway, is now appears taken up with stored cars.

In fairness to Guinness if there is to be a world record for anything then there have to be rules/parameters set in order to ensure a level playing field for anyone attempting to set/break such a record.More setting up time to arrange the cars into the required number of columns abreast and you could even set a reasonable spacing front to rear at the same time. One problem at Bruntingthorpe seemed to be that where we were originally parked there were columns 5 abreast[if I remember correctly]which at the first corner had to merge down to 3 abreast causing a bottle neck and the cars first away were passing us well before we even turned a wheel.A race track such as Donnington has a full lap of just over 4 mls I believe so how that would compare to Bruntingthorpe I don't know, but it's venue availability and costs involved in using any venue that would dictate when/where another attempt could be staged.

I'd agree, we need to have proper lane management. Controlling the speed, to a constant steady flow without stop - starts. I think thats what killed it for us. Too congested in one place, whilst another was all open.

How many Volvo's are on the manufacturing line at any point in time? I assume they would be within 2 car lengths? Would this qualify?
