Default 531 headjob...

Friend of mine has a 531 head for I think a good price. Now.. thinking of getting it for for b230fk engine. I’ve read that it’s a better flowing head then the standard 530. Port ‘n polish with better cam is the plan. Waste of money or would it be worth slapping in some big valves? Would you have to deck the pistons or would it be swap with easy?

What are your goals? Are you wanting 200whp or 1000whp? More details required.

Put the next size up valves installed as you can use the same valve seats that are in. Get a decent cam in . Bigger throttle body off a 960. Decent turbo and you'll be alright.

Does the 960 throttle body bolt on to intake of would you take the intake from 960

Given the 960 is a straight-6 3.0 i would suggest the throttle body bolts onto the B230 inlet manifold. Not sure if you'll need anything else though.

Interesting idea though, i wonder if i can release a few gee-gees on my 760 (B280E V6) with a larger throttle body..................

You will need more diameter at the exhaust valve. The inlet valve is OK
A different inlet manifold
The cr is worse with a 531. If you want to run high boost it will be fine.
Bigger turbo
3"exhaust
Cam
Difficult with LH2.4
Intercooler
Piping
Flywheel
Clutch
Gearbox

You have enough pounds to spent hopefully
300whp is high level and hard to hit.
The butterfly is the last important step

Good luck, Kay

How about dyno'ing your engine with stock head,
then swap for 531,
then bigger valves, then throttlebody,
big turbo, injectors,
water/NOX,
etc.

Post as a build thread and get us all informed. The dyno results from each stage would make for informative reading.

Go for 900bhp at the end. Goldbrick!!

Porting and polish are two words so often used wrongly together. Ports should not be polished on ever ground with a fine grit.

The combustion chamber is best polished
