Default 2011 XC60 Gear Selector Service Required

My XC60 shift won't move? I get a Gear Shif Service Light on the Dash but she is not throwing any codes. I turned her off, engaged the parking brake, disengaged the parking brake, restarted her and she was fine. I put her back in park and now it's the same thing again and she won't budge out of park and I get the same Gear Shift service light again. Playing with the parking brake has not worked again so that probably has no connection to the problem. I pulled the part of the center console off that covers the shift mechanism and nothing jumps out at me. Maybe it's my imagination but the shift trigger feels tight when I squeeze it. My daughter uses this car so I don't want to bypass the shift lock. Does anyone have any ideas on what I should try next?

Would Vida identify the exact cause of the message?

I got home today to continue searching for the problem with my gear shift, I was going to over ride the shift so I could pull her closer to the garage but did not have to because she shifted without any problem. I hooked her up to Vida and no faults shown. I sprayed the mechanism down with foaming windshield window cleaner, ate dinner then put her back together again. So far so good and we shall see what happens.
