Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. Hopefully a good result!

She lives!!!!

Just got home, started work on it at 4pm today after my job, did the sub frame, steering rack, a few brackets here & there & the driveshaft.

All pipes & wires connected & filled the transfer box with fluid, coolant, then pumped 7.1L of jws 3309 & re set all codes on the Delphi.

Ran it up the road & the only niggle I have is a plate/ metal sheet, seems to be rubbing somewhere, but it’s late & I wanted to get home so I’ll sort that tomorrow!
Took it easy on the 7-8 mile journey home but all seems good.

Good news!

Check the angle drive output shaft is not touching the steering rack heat shield

Slight hiccup.

Want to the garage today to drop my mate a few ££ & put it on the ramp to check the rattle...

Well it was pretty obvious what it was, I had put the prop shaft back on but didn’t remember to line it up how it came off so it had smashed the uj to bits & was wobbly into the transfer box!

I’ve removed the prop shaft & I’ll order the part tomorrow.

Are they off set of something? Not sure how I got it so wrong!

There is no requirement to mark the flanges and put them back the same (in spite of what the Haynes manual says).

They have CV joints at each end, not UJ's.

Can't think of anything you could have done to cause this?

Hi Jim, when I dropped the rear of the prop on my XC70 a couple of years ago to replace the Haldex Pump, all seemed to go well.

As soon as I drove it, the noise and vibration was terrible and it had never been present before.

I dropped the prop again and the rear CV joint was shot.

I replaced with a new one ( very simple and quick ) similar to the one that you have posted ( COUNT THE SPLINES ) and on reassembly all was good again.

You're nearly there so stick with it.

That’s exactly what happened!! I tested it, & it vibrated like mad!! It felt like the wheel was falling off!
I drove back & by then it must’ve been chewed as my mate took it up the road & of course all gone by then!

Very odd? Maybe it was put in slightly off?
