Ball Joints
I'm going to be replacing my Ball Joints as part of my suspension re-build. One thing that I've touched on before is the disparity in prices. This is something that annoys and also surprises me. I have always tried to buy the best quality as it tends to last longer but the difference in price seems to be growing by the day. I think a certain well known website is partly to blame but it does make things confusing to say the least
To give you an idea Lemforder ( pfv online ) £35.00 each Aftermarket ?? ( pfv online ) £13.00 each TRW ( fleaby ) £17.00 each German made ( Skandix ) £49.00 each No maker ( Brookhouse ) £22.74 each Volvio Genuine ( FRF Swansea ) £61.80 each So as you can see they can both be replaced for £26.00 at one end or £123.60 at the other end What are your thoughts ???

TRW make the ball joints for Volvo. Volvo joints both original and replacement are stamped TRW / Volvo
The Ebay price there is amazingly cheap and way below what I have to sell them for. If genuine TRW then it is a true bargain |

That's what worries me ! The old original ones are stampede Volvo/TRW. I suspect the Ebay ones are dodgy at £16.

I had to replace one for last year's MOT.
Colin, 2nd-to-top bloke at the garage ordered Lemforder as he rates them at least as good as OEM. It was £25 before VAT. I was happy to take his advice, their knowledge is deep. Job was easy, I got to use the GIANT CROWBAR.

I've heard Lemforder are good and I believe they are the same manufacturer as TRW.
I did a little more investigation and found TRW with the correct part no also for around £25 One thing I need to do before shotblasting is to get the old joints off the control arms

I also used my WMP (50/50 acetone/Carlube ATF-U) to help the taper release but they sit very tight in there! Good luck with it Mark!

My balljoint popped out east too,
as the actress said to the bishop. I wouldn't worry until you find they're stuck
