Glad you got it all back together! Is yours a turbo model by any chance? Not sure on the bracket, would guess fuel pressure regulator area. Will look at all he photos i took later when i load the computer up.

Yes, mine's a turbo. I figured out the part - that was a good guess - very close...

I ended up visiting www.volvopartswebstore.com and viewing all of the pics related to any areas I touched. The attached pic suggests that this mount appears to support the right side of plastic engine casing cover just above the fuel rail on the RHS. Not quite clear what it connects to exactly but at least now I know where to try and fit the piece...

hi i have a b4202s 2.0 petrol s40 1998-99 model- no flame trap
i have never attempted anything successfully on the car except bulb changes
this time with the forum and u tube i decided to try out pcv oil seperator renewal - i removed and replaced various compoenents up to but not yet removing the fuel rail and injectors
then i went further
removed covers and disconnected fuel pipes -PUSH CONNECTORS
removed fuel rail but struggled to get the plastic snap ties holding wiring to rail off - cut them off in the end will need new ties
removed inlet air hose and disconnected the throttle body sensor and nearby sensor ( both sensors clip on )
so now the injector tips look clean but abit of grit around on the external surfaces and o rings - carefully cleaned them with tissue avoiding touching the shiny injector surface and spot holes.
now i just need the confidence to get the inlet manifold off
plan next - remove dipstick remove alternator bracket remove upper manifold bolts and loosen lower bolts but not remove them
lift off the manifold
PROBLEM ANTICIPATED THE Wiring loom left side is clipped into a plastic frame and may limit movement - i ma guessing that this wont be a problem in real life? red outline number 1 see pic
also from the front a pipe containing power steering fluid might get in the way
see my pic red outline
ps the fuel rail is out completely and sitting on my desk so access better
I CHICKENED OUT AT THIS POINT AND REASSEMBLED THE CAR - RENEWING THE THROTTLE BODY GASKET( practice ) WHILE backtracking and putting on new volvo o rings ( ps only one on each injector was what i could see )
reassembled easily
my concern - when i remove the inlet manifold -- will I be unable to easily move it out of the way see pipe 3 on pic think this is clipped in under the manifold
and also will wiring at number 2 get in way and will pipe 3 cause a problem with access
once manifold is out will the gasket just peel off ?
and then once off-- i guess removing the pipes and oil seperator -involves having to cut off clamps and unscrew seperators then clean gunk from ports renew top pipe and lower crankcase seal and any worn / blocked pipes then jubilee clips to replace CLIC R type clips
then work back
now if i run out of time ( can i just place paper towels to occlude ports and leave over nite ?)
if so then i think i can do it as i feel that having the extra time is useful
finally how does one know when injectors are fully seated?
( what are risks of not fully seated injectors ? fire i am guessing )
ps i checked them after re assembly today and no leaks
hope this thread makes sense
SHOULD I PROCEED OR STOP AND TAKE BY CAR TO MY LOCAL FIXIT GARADE WHO USUALLY DO A GOOD JOB AT REASONABLE RATES - HOW MANY HOURS DOES ONE THINK A GARAGE WOULD SPEND? 1-2 hours.?
all the best
Patrick

You can find it here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80403716/pcv.pdf, a lot of stuff on the forum has sadly been lost during server changes/

Just wondering how much the PCV kit should cost? Just been quoted 212 due to it being turbo (t4) but I was kind of hoping for about 120. I can shave off almost all of that with one hose, or should I just bite the bullet?
