Yes best practice to disconnect the battery.

Although I am 99% sure the audio unit does not trigger the SRS Airbag warning when removed, the climate control unit you have to unscrew to get to the audio unit deffo triggers it, and it is quite easy to pull the plugs from it.

I know the original poster wrote this a while ago- however I fitted the GROM Aux-in adaptor.

It provided a 3.5mm connector, plus a USB socket providing power for charging. I connected these cables to the CD Changer port on the HU-803. The four sources that I've now got available are FM, AM, CD Player (the 4-disk changer built into the head unit) and CD Changer (which is actually the grom aux-in). So I don't lose any functionality.

There's just enough space around the head unit to stash the GROM box, and as others have said it's straightforward to run the cables through to the glovebox without cutting anything.

Sound quality is excellent - for a given audio file I can't tell the difference between playing it on my phone & connecting it vua the 3.5mm aux or burning it to a CD and playing it there.

I realise these posts date from a while back but I would like to install a jack suitable for my mobile phone or have a bluetooth connection to my HU-803. The CD player has had it.

However, the post links to products on ebay have since expired.

Please can anyone make any current product recommendations?

Thanks.

Would you happen to have an iPod adapter there?
That's how I've done it- spliced iPods cable, the only downside is that iPod has to be present and connected.
Then I have a switch in armrest to choose aux in (mini jack)/iPod/Bluetooth.

Frankly.. I don't use it often.

Hi Green440,

try searching this itm no on the bay

282606791321

Worth checking you have a free ext cd socket on the rear of your HU803, but it does show it as supported, so should work...

Thanks I'll check this Ebay ref out.

Sorry not sure what the ipod ref is about. My HU803 looks like the attached photo at the back as I remember.

I just wondered if it was possible to splice in a jack lead some how?

technically... yes

ohh. i`m going to be dificult here

two black round ports from your photo

if memory serves right, 1 pin will be GND, next 2 will be right and left channel, remaining 2 will be control data

it won`t start until communication is established on control data, so you will need to build something to mimic behaviour of lets say CD multichanger

its all controlled by MELBUS protocol, and to the best of my knowledge all datasheets for it are in swedish

after you translate it, you can use for example raspberry pi to do the job.

or go to ebay, obtain that module from post above, or similar ipod module (lookas almost same, but has an ipod connector)

i know what i`d do

end of being difficult, even if i only stated facts

To get a jack lead plugged in, I've still got my Grom AUX-3 pack on the go. I got it from gromaudio.com

They've done all the deciphering, so you get a kit containing a plug for the back of the HU-803, a small black box (about the size of a raspberry pi actually!), and then a long trailing lead which goes to a USB socket and a 3.5mm jack plug. The USB socket on the AUX-3 only provides power.

Your HD-803 then recognises a CD Changer (not the CD Player), which you can select. Doing so feeds the audio from the jack lead straight through.

Job done!

Oh and a word to the wise, disconnect the battery before you disconnect any of the cables on the back of the climate control panel (You need to do this to get the radio out). If you forget to do this, you'll trip the airbag warning light.
