Default Body Repair tips

Evening all

This weekend I had a trip, missed a turn and had to spin round. However, I ended up turning into a pothole infested mess. I did drive slow but I caught my bumper. Any advice on fixing this?? Or should I replace??

Thanks in advance

I carved a deeper lump out of the black bumper of my 2008 V70 on a Cotswold stone wall turning in a car park and my dealer - Listers Worcester - filled and sprayed it so I could not see it c£180. Black may be easier to cover, I don’t know.

Fill and spray but use the correct filler.

Mate welded his split bumper with a kit he baught off the Internet, bit like a hot glue gun afair, welded both sides then flatted and filled the front before spraying.
I saw the before and after and was amazed at how strong the repair was, it being un noticable was a given after the fill and spraye treatment.

There are sites that will tell you all you need to know about the fillers.

Will ask him if he remembers where it came from and what it was. Know it was an elastic type to accommodate any movement.

Paul.

Alright I'll check it out. Hopefully it's not too costly. But I can't leave the scratch there. Knowing it's there makes me cringe.

Thanks for the responses

Not advertising... but...

Some time back, a stone wall in my courtyard pulled out without indicating and scraped the corner of my front bumper. Being a stone wall, some of the scrape was quite deep!

So, I contacted my local "ChipsAway" guy, he came and looked at the job, gave me a quote, Can't remember the price; but the figure of £160 comes to mind?

And the next weekend he came and did the job. And 'touched up (invisibly) a couple of other little car-park scratches all for the price of the initial quote!

And, after, to quote Eric Morecambe, "I couldn't see the join!" Extremely satisfied!

The guy explained that if there were ever a complaint against a "ChipsAway" guy, they would send out a 'senior manager' to check and if, indeed, the job were not a quality one, the operative would lose his franchise, his deposit and all the gear that came as part of the franchise (van, paint, spray stuff, tools etc). So, all in all, good motivation to do a good job!

Apart from that one job, I have no connection with the company in any form.

Nice. Seems a bit much. Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a replacement trim? Or would I have to buy the whole bumper??

Whatever you bought, you would have to pay to have it resprayed to the colour of the car as well.
