Default XC60 Electric Handbrake Operation

Hi all - Purchased my first Volvo last month - a 2010MY XC60. Loving it so far apart from a couple of minor niggles:

1. The handbrake doesn't release automatically every time - not sure whether it's only supposed to work on an incline or in all circumstances (even reverse?).

Although the vast majority of the servicing has been carried out by main dealers I notice the rear discs/pads were recently replaced by an independent garage. Wondered whether this might offer a possible explanation.

2. The second niggle is that the car doesn't always start with the first prod of the start/stop button. A common glitch or not?

Cheers - Ian

Not sure about point 2 but as regards the auto handbrake it will only work when you have your seatbelt on.

Ok - didn't realise that but seat belt worn at all times so I think that can be discounted!

Thanks

You have to give it a bit of throttle before it will release and mine will release with or without seat belt on, so not sure about that as a reason.

My handbrake releases automatically everytime going forward but it's a bit hit and miss in reverse but that's probably not such a bad thing safetywise.

And I occasionally get the "pull on the lever" message rather than just the brake releasing. Usually just after starting the engine, but not always.

my v 60(my2013) releases every time forward or reverse with or without seatbelt.
non starting, I have found that the pedal switch is very sensitive and if my foot is not quite far enough down it needs a second push before the starter kicks in.
I assume you don't mean it turns over but doesn't start, this has only happened to me when changing fuel filter.
