No way! And why should you?

Certainly not the reg doc, thief could sell it on (sort of)legally with this. Insurance details on my phone if needed, VED details online, V5 lockedaway at home.

Why? When a car is stolen while away from home, odds on the home is unoccupied.

As I said, overcautious........🙂
I don't think your overcautious - I think its sensisible - I have my home address set 0.5 mile away but it makes no difference to any of the route selections.

Most people know of it- but it's a cool one I really like and had to mention here- a Volvo key fob (or, in my case, a garage remote..) holder in the cupholder area:

If you raise the cargo area floor cover you can support it by flicking down the bag holders on either side of the cargo area.(XC90) I also fitted a little elasticated loop to the spare wheel cover that I can hook onto the cargo cover catch when open to support that too.
I dont know why in a premium car they do not have struts to support the cargo cover.

You don't need to have it in the car in the UK?
Are there no 2-part register documents in the UK whereby the car can only be sold if both are present
so you can keep one in the car and the other in a safe place? That how it is in Belgium now, before that
I had copies in the car looking like the real thing but with "COPY" in red all over them.

The XC60 has a hook which is velcroed on the underside

There's no requirement to carry any documents in the car (or on yourself).

That is a very clean storage area, unlike mine which is full of junk.

The V90’s top one has struts, the lighter carpet style one below lifts out.
