sporadic misfiring
Dear Collegues
Need your help to make me understand better how to react here My Vehicle: Volvo V70, D5, 185 Bhp, year 2005, 61'000 Km Error discription: Sporadic misfiring A diesel engine, in theorie, this should not happen, although every now and then, occasioanly I do hear this "big exploding bang" under the bonnet, the noise seems to come from somewhere near the fuel high pressure pump. I've visited and discussed the issue with various Volvo dealers, unfortunatelly non of them has a slightest idea of what could be the possible cause of described malfunction. Monday, May 04 need to bring the car to the garage, swirl throttle machanism needs to be changed, some day ago, I had a look under the engines plastic cover to see whats going on, then found, to my surprise, the connection rod between swirl throttle and servo motor, which was there, simply hanging loose. Inserted it back to place, some days later although, there it is, hanging loose again. Volvo's corrective action: Exchange the mechanism with an reenforced version. In theorie: High pressure pump in function together with the swirl throttle should improve fuel/air in more efficient combustion. (At this very moment, for my car, this is not given...., everything else than efficient combustion I presume....) My question: Could or is this the possible cause of sporadic misfiring ? Looking forward to all your postive replies Hejdo Many thanks in advance, yours sincerly Paul Last edited by v70d5185; May 1st, 2009 at 13:28. |
