Smile Slow Throttle Response - Hesitation

My S80 D5 2002 has a slow throttle response. It behaves as though there is a delay between what my right foot wants and what the engine does. It is definately an electrical (software?) type of issue. When pressing the accelerator, nothing happens for about half a second. This car always comes last in the traffic light prand prix. Then when changing gear normally, you can see the rev counter blipping upwards after pressing the clutch, again because the engine is slow to respond to lifting the throttle.

This car has been exactly the same since I bought it 6 mths and 10,000 miles ago. I didn't think it was a big issue at the time, but it does take the edge off driving pleasure!

Has anyone heard of this or can anyone advise if a software correction/update is possible?

Is it likely that there will be fault codes stored which may tell the reason?

No one any ideas? I'll just have to go off and beat my car with a big stick then.

I think it's just the fact that the car is a fly by wire. They're just not as quick to react as a physical link.

I'm new to the oil burners so I'm standing by to be corrected.

By declaring it's electrical you've snookered us Chris as the majority (but not all) of D5 faults are mechanical

The throttle response of a D5 should be instantaneous

ps. get the codes looked at

Many thanks for your help, I'll book it in to have the codes looked at and I'll let you know what they find.
