Default Amazon car insurance, help needed

Hello all,
I'm having a bit of a nightmare getting the car insurance I need for the Amazon i am buying. It will be my only car but I would like the extension that allows you to drive other cars. A lot of the Classic car policies seem to state that I need to own another car as well or they will insure me but without having third party cover to drive other cars. I've been looking for ages and it's frustrating to say the least. Does anyone on here have a policy where their classic is their daily and only car but their policy allows them to drive other cars? If so could you let me know what company so I can talk to them.
Never had this problem with classic cars I have had in the past.
Many thanks, all the best
Joe

Cool

Wanting third party cover to drive other cars would make you a virtually out of control risk as far as an insurance company is concerned. You may just want to drive your neighbours Micra now and then but if it's your uncles Audi RS10 or Range Rover Sport then you can't expect to get cover without handing over lots of pound notes. If you're under 25, even having the Amazon as your only car won't be cheap. Bona fide club membership is often useful........

In the last few weeks I've taken out an Admiral Multicar policy for my '67 Amazon and my son's Peugeot 106. My Amazon is my only road legal car, the policy accrues NCB if required, otherwise it will maintain your entitlement if already fully attained. I have agreed value plus 12000 miles limit which can be adjusted if required. It also allows me to drive other cars plus has European cover. My premium is only £143 pa (for the Amazon, not both). I'm not sure where you'd stand on a non multicar, stand alone, policy but they're worth giving a try.

Not entirely sure about the type of cover you will need but I have always found Peter Best Insurance to be very helpful and pretty darned reasonable re: price. Might be worth a try. Hope it helps.

Hi,

Would you mind sending me a PM with your details? I'm keen to have a look into why we were unable to help.

Thanks
Dan.

Have you tried Richard Hoskins part of Equity Red Star group, they are very reasonable and would be very well worth speaking to 01277 206911. I have been a customer of theirs for a number of years now. They are very flexible on what and how they set up a policy, specifically for you as a customer.
