Has this problem got worse since having the "O" rings replaced?

Before replacement, I do not recall having the problem.

What happened to the pressure regulator idea?

I've a cheap ebay adjustable on a B230FT atm and it doesn't hold the pressure. Restarting takes much longer after its hot. About to replace with a much more expensive unit because the ebay one just falls off its mount (held in with 2 threads lol). Hopefully it will work better.

In that case, i'd definitely try running some injector cleaner through, the previously leaky "O" rings would have allowed air in to make the mixture leaner. Also check the vacuum hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator for splits, perishing and to make sure it's tight on the pipe stubs where it fits the FPR and the manifold.

With the engine running, pull the vac hose off the FPR and firstly listen for any change in engine note, putting your thumb over the end of the rubber hose to prevent an air leak.

Now observe the stub on the FPR - does any petrol come out of it at all? If so, the FPR is faulty and needs replacing but i would check the hoses carefully first.

Hello whattodovolvo. I'm wondering. Just for completeness. When the problem occurs, what happens if anything when you try to re-start? Do ignition circuits come on, come alive ... do you hear any sounds you would usually hear ... does the starter motor do anything or try to do anything?

Nothing unusual whilst trying to re-start, just no firing up. Just needs cooling down a little bit.

Hi,

I added a can of fuel injector cleaner and did drive half an hour. Same result unfortunately. Check the hose found no crack etc...

Fuel injector cleaner takes a while to work - half an hour won't do it, more like half a tank before you start to notice any improvement.

When did the car last get a good, long run?
